Mummytolittlee's Guide to Gloucester, Gloucestershire
toddlers in Gloucester, Gloucestershire
Gloucester, a Cathedral City, is close to the Welsh border, in the South West of England. It’s overlooked by the Cotswolds Hills, which makes it a fantastic base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.

Founded by the Romans, Gloucester still has a Saxon street layout in the city centre and Victorian docklands, which were once a major centre for the shipment of goods and elegant tall ships. Gloucester is a true rugby city. The stadium is situated close to the heart of the city and you often see people walking the street wearing the famous cherry and red hoops. The city has a mix of visitor attractions; including festivals, high street and specialist shops, tea shops, restaurants, wine bars and pubs. Perhaps the most famous of Gloucester’s unique shops is Number 9, College Court – it stands beside the ancient St Michael’s Gate and Gloucester cathedral and it was the building Beatrix Potter chose for the setting of The Tailor of Gloucester. The former abbey church founded 1300 years ago is now an impressive cathedral. Its cloisters were transformed into the corridors of Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the films of JK Rowling’s first two Harry Potter books.
