Continuing our theme of "hotels with pools and separate bedroom and living areas"...
To finish off our break we went to visit our friends Dave and Courtney in the often-overlooked city of Providence, RI for the last couple of days. We had had such a good time Staying at the Cape Codder Resort with a baby that we actually only ended up with one night at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown.
The hotel itself is conveniently located in the middle of Providence, next to the big mall and the convention centre.
What friendly staff! Okay - so this is commonplace in the US but here they were excellent. The greeting was perfect, including the nice lady who took my wife round the corner for emergency baby supplies from CVS and the crib was in the room when we got up there.
Yet again, we had arranged for a one bedroom suite. The room was a decent size with a good tv and a nice comfy sofa but was starting to look a bit tired around the edges. Definitely in need of some sprucing up but nothing serious or dangerous. Maybe I am just being too picky?
The pool looked nice but was definitely too cold for Doofy, which was a shame as he got in his trunks and was all excited about having an evening dip. We weren't sure whether this was a temporary or permanent issue. Maybe people are just braver in Providence?!
Providence is a very pleasant city. Quite compact but with some nice buildings - it is the home of Brown University. Certainly enough to see whilst you wander around the steep streets and soak in the atmosphere. Definitely worth a day's visit and it is one of the more "British" cities in the US.
Both mummy and daddy have full time jobs with long hours and so we had to make the decision over whether or not to put Doofy in nursery. Even if we have a day off he sometimes goes in. Does this make us bad parents?...
