Coaley Peak, Nympsfield - by Mummytolittlee

Posted by Mummytolittlee on 12 June 2014 at 23:45

Coaley Peak is a picnic site and viewpoint to the south-west of Stroud, with breathtaking views over the Severn Vale and the distant Welsh Hills.

Coaley Peak is one of our absolute favourite places to go when we need fresh air and beautiful scenery. It's a glorious spot on a summers day and a picture perfect place for kite-flying - it's where my eldest son first learnt to fly a kite! It's also a great spot for walkers - the adjacent Woodland Trust beech wood and Cotswold Way National Trail attract walkers throughout the year.

My husband loves Coaley Peak for its excavated Neolithic burial site; Nympsfield Long Barrow, my boys love it for its vast expanse of space and its ice cream van, and I love it because it’s breathtakingly beautiful...and because in the time it takes us to get out the car and detangle our kite my boys transform from caged animals into little rays of sunshine! It's the perfect place for a relaxing afternoon out.
